Royal Velvet: the Enchantment of Royal Velvet Lavender

Royal Velvet: the Enchantment of Royal Velvet Lavender

Another Lavandula Augustafolia or English variety, Royal Velvet was developed by the same horticulturist out in Oregon who developed Melissa.
If we were restricted to one variety, Royal Velvet would be the one we would choose. I know many other growers who share our opinion.  Why?  Relative to the other English varieties, it's a little larger with longer stems, has a deep, bright purple blossom which dries well and holds its colour and it is very hardy.  We now have over 3 thousand plants enjoying the slopes of Fennario Meadows.  We don't cover our Royal Velvet for the winter and still experience the lowest casualty rate of all the varieties that we grow.
