Lavender is the heart of Terre Bleu. The relaxing aroma and natural beauty of our plants inspires everything we do. A lot of hard work brings vibrant, aromatic blooms at varying times throughout the the summer. Harvested by hand, the lavender plants are distilled or dried into a range of natural products.
SPRING MAINTENANCE
Lavender Pruning
Each spring, the lavender is pruned to remove any dead plant material. This allows the sun to reach down to the roots of the plants to stimulate growth.
SUMMER HARVEST
Lavender Harvest
Depending on the variety, the lavender will bloom at various times during the summer, usually from late June through to early August. Once the lavender has reached its peak bloom, it is harvest. The harvest is either distilled for essential oil or dried for bouquets or culinary purposes.
PRESERVING LAVENDER
Drying Lavender
Lavender is dried for 2-3 weeks. Once dried, the bundles are sorted and used in many of our lavender products. The English varieties will be used as bouquets or in culinary products. The French varieties are mostly used in our sachets.
PRESERVING LAVENDER
Distilling Essential Oil
Fresh lavender is hand-packed into a copper still to produce essential oil. This slow process creates an artisanal essential oil product. The by-product of the distilling process, hydrosol is also used in many of our products available in our store.
FINAL PROCESSING
Lavender Products
All of our products are processed from our farm. We use high quality ingredients to make products that you can feel good about.
